Hi! I’m Joy, and I'm a visual storyteller working as an Art Director, author, and illustrator. My passion lies in creating art that uplifts, informs, and inspires the community toward enlightenment and justice, all while leaving ample room for book design, especially in the fantasy & graphic novel genres. A core focus of my work is bringing surreal and dreamlike representation to people of color and other marginalized identities.

My art can be found in public murals across the country, university talks, and inclusive identity paint nights. While I aim to challenge the misrepresentation of hidden individuals in our society, I also take great pleasure in visual marketing and communication.

My first published children’s book, Calvin Dreams, was inspired by my little brother, Calvin. During the 2016 BLM movement, I felt a strong call to create a story that uplifts a Black protagonist as he overcomes the impossible in gorgeous dreamlands.
